Life Is But A Dream (free) 02:50
so you sit in your chair and you brandish your gun and i tiptoe away cause i'm too scared to run and my mouth is ajar and my feet weigh a ton i got holes in my shoes you don't need anyone as i drift through the day i hear so many lies from the news to the train everyone's hypnotized and a banner of hopeless entanglement flies i got sand in my teeth i got tears in my eyes life is but a dream love is all i need how can i believe? still you sit in your chair and you brandish your gun and there's nowhere to hide and there's nowhere to run and i won't be the same anymore to anyone but i want to go home won't you take me away? love is all i need how can i believe? love is but a dream life is all i need i can hardly see life is but a dream love is all i need how can i believe?
2.
no need to beg no need to pray all that you have falls away in the face of one more snowy day sight for the blind sight for the seen caught in the midst of a dream are you holding on to what you've been to me i watched you go, alone no one to love, at home i can hear you now in the traffic sounds it's silent underground no need to beg no need to pray all that you have falls away in the face of one more snowy day
3.
heard a laughing child in the valley wild singing words under rainy weather so i wrote them down for you who've yet to be born all the diamond rings, all the easy things won't be with you to last forever may your inner ghost love and prune you with scorn for the one who cries is the one who says there's more than we can say though it's dark and cold i believe i'd like to live another day for the one who cries devil's talking now says remember how i turned pain into all your pleasure may you never look directly into my lies but the night then ran and the day began and you wake to the face of your lover and you disappear into the sea of her eyes for the one who cries is the one who says there's more than we can say though it's dark and cold i believe i'd like to live another day for the one who cries
4.
when the miracle worker can open up his eyes he sees the truth and lies in their disguises makes no difference if you laugh or criticize when he's holding his breath though he cannot remember the dark and dirty past he keeps his broken bones in a cast takes what he wants and needs from that which lasts as he holds his breath she was beautiful she never ceased to understand she held his problems safely in her hands but he could not speak his mind as he had planned cause he was holding his breath now the miracle worker is somewhere very cold all that once glittered wasn't really gold now he can't tell if he's young or if he's old cause he's holding his breath
5.
i fell into the trap of thinking that i know more than i know "you're wiser now," they said but then i went and took it to my head i used to be somebody but now i'm on the brink i'll have another cigarette and fix myself a drink i'm running from the places that are present in my dreams it's hard to find a way to go when nothing's as it seems
